Skimming & re-plastering in Bournemouth

Tired, cracked, patched or artexed walls? A fresh skim gives you a smooth, flat, ready-to-decorate surface that makes the whole room look new.

Skimming & re-plastering in Bournemouth

Over time walls and ceilings get covered in cracks, old wallpaper marks, patches and lumpy textured coatings. Rather than endlessly filling and sanding, a skim coat over the top gives you a perfect flat surface in one go.

Where plaster is blown, hollow or beyond saving, we hack it off and re-plaster back to a solid, smooth finish. Either way you are left with walls and ceilings that are genuinely ready to paint — no ripples, no trowel lines.

Common questions about skimming & re-plastering

Can you plaster over artex?
Yes. In most cases we can skim straight over artex to give a smooth modern finish, avoiding the mess of removing it.
How long before I can paint new plaster?
Fresh plaster needs to dry fully — typically several days to a couple of weeks depending on conditions — before painting. We will advise for your job.
Do I need a re-plaster or just a skim?
If the existing plaster is sound, a skim over the top is enough. If it is blown or hollow, it needs hacking off and re-plastering. We will tell you honestly which you need.
